GETTING THERE

 

Somerset is a small coastal town located at the junction of the Bass and Murchison Highways, 155km north west of Launceston.

 

Travelling distances to Somerset from other locations are as follows,  Burnie, 7km, Wynyard 13km, Devonport 54km, Stanley 72km, and Hobart 320km.

 

 

If travelling by car from the mainland there is the Spirit of Tasmania, a passenger and vehicle ferry which operates between

Devonport and Melbourne.  East Devonport , where the ferry docks is a 50 minute drive from Somerset.

 

 

The North West of Tasmania is served by two regional airports, the Burnie airport located at Wynyard and

Devonport airport located 8 kilometres east of Devonport.

 

 

Burnie airport also called Wynyard airport is 15 minutes by car from Somerset. The airport which underwent a major upgrade in the latter part of  2006 boasts a shop, café, large windows,  free car parking and car hire .

 

 

Regional Express operate at least 5 flights a day to Burnie from Melbourne using Saab 340 aircraft.

 

 

Devonport airport is 50 minutes by car from Somerset. The airport has a licensed kiosk ,souvenir shop, car parking and car hire.

 

 

QantasLink operate 4 flights a day to Devonport from Melbourne using Dash 8 aircraft.
